63 - Tusky Valley Brings Down Strasburg 68-63 (1-25-63)

ZOARVILLE - "Our boys just outhustled them and never quit the entire game," Tuscarawas Valley Coach Bob Heller said after the rousing upset.  "It sure was sweet revenge for that earlier 82-54 loss in non-league play at Strasburg December 11."  The score was tied 3 times in the initial quarter, before the Trojans (4-2) (8-6) went in front 9-7, a lead they never relinquished.  Coach Warren Binder's Tigers (5-1) (10-2) came to within 4 points in the final frame,  but couldn't muster enough punch to maintain their unblemished league mark.  Tuscarawas Valley was on top 23-14 at the 1st halt, had a 42-32 advantage at intermission and took a 53-45 margin into the final period.  The Trojans, who used just 5 men to only 6 for the Tigers, hit on 29 of 66 action shots for a fine 44 percentage and made 10 of 17 free tosses.  The Tigers racked up 25 of 70 field goal tries for 36 percent and drilled home 13 of 21 fouls.  Paul Shipbaugh of Tuscarawas Valley took scoring honors for the evening, getting 22 points, 16 coming in the 1st half and 6 in the final frame.  He got ample help from Gary Ferren who got 15 markers and Dave Widder and Bob Burris with 14 and 11 respectively.  The Strasburg Tigers (11-1) continued their winning ways by blasting the Tuscarawas Valley Reserves (1-11) 41-27.
