63 - Tusky Valley Blows Away Dover St. Joseph's 76-44 (2-2-63)

DOVER - Dover St. Joseph's experienced one  of  their worst nights of the season Saturday night as it lost to streaking Tuscarawas Valley (10-6) before a good turnout at Memorial Hall.  Coach Art Teynor's Ramblers (2-12) for the season, gave the Mother's Night throng some thrills in the first 2 quarters, but, as in previous engagements, faltered in the stretch.  The score was tied 10 times and changed hands on 10 occasions during the first 9 minutes of play and the ramblers stayed close until the beginning of the 3rd quarter when the Trojans of Coach Bob Heller tallied 13 straight points.  Falling behind 48-29 at that point, Teynor used mostly substitutes the rest of the way.  Heller also used reserves freely in the final 2 periods.  St. Joseph's substitutes couldn't do any better than the starters, as Tuscarawas Valley's youngsters racked up 15 straight points in the final frame to hold a 74-35 advantage before the Ramblers scored.  The Trojans, despite winning their 6th straight game, didn't perform well as they committed 25 turnovers.  They did; however, control the boards, getting 72 shots to only 48 for the Ramblers.  Tusky Valley hit on 27 for a respectable 37.5 percent, St. Joseph's made 15 for a cool 31.2 percent.  The Ramblers also committed 29 turnovers.  Three Trojans hit in double figures.  Dave Widder lead the way with 24 points, his second-best output of the season.  Big Gary Ferren, although sitting out half the game due to personal foul trouble, got 15, Paul Shipbaugh added 11.  No Ramblers hit in 2 digits.  Jim Mari paced their hopes with 8 markers.  Roger Lammers and Dave Richards both got 7.  Six of Lammers' points came in the 1st quarter, as neither he nor Richards scored in the 2nd half.  Lammers carried a 19.61 average into the fracas.  The Tuscarawas Valley Reserves (2-12) just got passed the Dover St. Joseph's Reserves 66-59 in overtime.
