63 - Midvale Sweeps Tuscarawas 66-55 (1-18-63)

MIDVALE - The Midvale Blue Devils (4-1) (11-3) were hard pressed in their victory over Tuscarawas' Broncos (2-4) (5-6).  Tuscarawas held a 28-26 halftime lead and was in front 46-45 going into the final quarter.  But, the Devils burned the nets off the buckets in the final quarter to outscore Tusky 21 to 9 for the victory.  Again, it was Dean DeMattio who led the victorious charge for Coach Pete Hilliard's crew as the 6-2 Junior  potted 36 points, including 10 in the crucial 4th period.  Don Basquin and Bob Byers, providing the game-breaking outside punch for the Devils, added 19 and 9 respectively.  Phil Caldwell paced Coach Aaron Miller's Broncos with 21 points.  Fred Burmich netted 14 and Ivan Summers 10.  The Devils showed improved shooting at the foul line,  hitting  15 of 23 efforts as compared to 9 of 17 for the invaders.  The Devils hae a big game on tap tonight, moving to  Freeport to take on the undefeated Lakeland Red Raiders who have racked up 10 straight victories.  Yet another nights sweep for Midvale, as the Junior High team took on Tuscarawas and won by a score of 32-21.  The Midvale Reserves (11-2) followed beating the Tuscarawas Reserves (4-4) 64-40 going away.
