63 - Dalton Slams Tusky Valley 75-57 (12-29-62)




ZOARVILLE - The injury-weakened Tuscarawas Valley Trojans (4-4)  to Dalton here Saturday.  Coach Bob Heller prepares to return to county league warfare on Friday.  Regular Ed Crawford was still out of the lineup last night with an ankle injury and Gary Ferren, 6-5 Junior center, saw a few minutes of action against Dalton because of a bad ankle.  TV stayed on the heels of the invaders for the first half, leading 18-14 at the initial stop and trailing only 38-31 at intermission.  But Dalton  put on a press in the 3rd quarter, bewildering the Trojans, to race to a 53-44 lead going into the final stanza.  Dick Miller led Dalton's once-beaten combine with 28 points.  Bob Gerber added 18.  Dalton has lost only to undefeated Smithville this season 47-45 and has been averaging 90 points per game.  Bob Burris led Tusky Valley with 16 points.  Dave Widder added 13.  The Trojans hit 22 of 53 from action for a fine 43 percent.  Dalton canned 27 of 57 for 48 percent.  Paul Shipbaugh and Ken  Burris led TV in rebounding.  Coach Heller said he was very happy with the performance inasmuch as 2 regulars were out.  The Dalton Reserves won the first game of the night over the Tuscarawas Valley Reserves (0-7) 41-30.
