63 - Hiland Beats Garaway On Fouls 59-55 (1-5-63)
BERLIN - Three good foul shots in the final minute of play enabled Hiland (7-1) to turn back a Garaway (5-5) rally here Saturday night. With the Hawks leading 56-53, Joel Menuez was fouled and made both. A few seconds later he again went to the line and made a successful attempt after Garaway was whistled for calling its 6th timeout. (Only 5 are allowed each half.) Hiland was in front all the way by commanding margins until Garaway's last-ditch effort, taking 20-13, 34-22 and 45-34 period leads. Menuez took scoring honors for Hiland, getting 16 points. Bill Horrisberger had 15. Hot-shooting Don Deetz of Garaway reaped game laurels, pouring in 26 markers. Frank Miller had 15.
