63 - Stone Creek Romps At Augusta 59-45 (12-18-62)




AUGUSTA - Stone Creek's Panthers (3-4) will be out to even their record at Tuscarawas Friday night.  Coach Ken Lawhun's aggregation picked up win No. 3 here last night, tripping Augustas.  The Panthers clawed their way to a 21-9 lead at the end of the initial period and coasted, holding 35-18 and 46-28 margins at the next 2 stops.  Senior Jim Billman hiked his season point total to 73 with 16 to lead the win.  Sophomore John Flinner had 11.  Paul Berry topped Augusta with 13.  Verle Endlich led the way in the rebound department, pulling down 16.  Dick McPherson grabbed 12.  The Panthers connected on  24 of 64 action attempts for a respectable 37.5 percent.  The losers hit on 18 of 66 for 27 percent.  Stone Creek made 7 of 17 free throws.  Augusta sank 9 of 13.  "It was a rough game and I'm glad we could come through," Lawhun said.  "Billman and Flinner did a good job on offense and Endlich and McPherson looked good under the boards."  The Stone Creek Reserve team (6-1) continued their winning ways by blasting the Augusta Reserves 41-32.
