63 - Three Rivers In Overtime Win 64-61 At Baltic (12-1-62)

BALTIC - Coach Errol Jacobs' Eagles (1-3) gave it a game try here Saturday night, but fell to tall Three Rivers in overtime.  The winners led all the way until the hosts rallied near the end of the final quarter.  Three Rivers was just too tall for  Baltic,  with 3 cagers over the 6-3 mark.  But the Eagles battled valiantly and actually outscored the winners by 3 field goals.  Three Rivers; however, cashed in on 14 of 25 free tosses compared to Baltic's 5 of 12.  The Eagles were down by as much as 11 points at times, but would rally to catch part way up only to see the winners spurt to pull away.  Guy Limbacher's tip-in sent the contest into the extra period.  Dick Gerber topped Baltic with 22 points.  Dale Stein had 15 and Keith Miller 10.  Parkhill of Three Rivers took game honors with 32 markers, Bald had 11.  Stein, Gerber and Baab did most of the board work for the Eagles.  "The boys played a whale of a game," Jacobs said.  "We just couldn't get that extra push we needed or we may have won it in regulation time.  But just when we got close they would pull away again."  "This helped our morale; however.  Now the boys realize they can play good ball.  They've come along faster than we expected.  We'll do all right with more work."  Three Rivers Reserves also smacked the Baltic Reserves (0-4) 48-20.
