63 - Down The Line With Dan Kopp (2-12-63)



DOVER - Statistics kept by this writer show Dean DeMattio of Midvale was top man in  the Tuscarawas County Class "A" Basketball League as far as scoring points was concerned.  A final tabulation revealed the 6-2 center with 90 field goals and 64 good foul shots for 244 markers, far ahead of the rest of the field in all 3 categories.  He averaged 30.50 per game in leading the Blue Devils to a share of the league title with Strasburg, both team ending with 7-1 records.  Dick Gerber of Baltic was 2nd in total points (164) and in per game average (20.30), Paul Shipbaugh  of Tuscarawas Valley was runner-up in field goals (68) and Larry Laisure of Port Washington was 2nd high in free tosses (42).  Midvale ruled as the top offensive team, tallying 595 points.  Strasburg was best in defense, allowing just 422 points.
