63 - Strasburg Slams Conotton Valley 102-46 (2-2-63)
STRASBURG - The ferocious Strasburg Tigers (12-3) are back in form. Rolling along with a 10-1 record 2 weeks ago, the Bengals lost 2 straight and many fans were wondering if their winning ways were over. But, Coach Warren Binder's charges now have won 2 in a row, the latest being a resounding 102-46 decision over hapless Conotten Valley (3-9) here Saturday night. It was the 12th straight home court victory for a Tiger quintet (8 this season) and the 102 points are the most ever scored by a Strasburg team in its own confines. It is; however, shy of the 118 total racked up by the 1955 aggregation in district tournament play at Memorial Hall in Dover. Strasburg led all the way here Saturday, posting 23-15, 51-26 and 76-34 quarter margins. The "Terrible Two" again paced the Tiger attack, John Peters pouring in 27 points and Adrian Edie racking up 21. Rock Van Fossen added 13 to the cause, with Tom Dreher getting 10. Eleven players contributed to the barrage. Conotton Valley was topped by Bill Tope's 12 markers. "Binder's Grinders" controlled both boards all night, taking 105 action shots and making 41 for a good 39 percent. They also were accurate at the foul lines, canning 20 of 30. The Rockets of Coach Dave Scott hit on only 19 of 81 field goal tries for a weak 24 percent managed just 8 of 19 charities. The Strasburg Reserves (14-1) were just as hard on the Conotton Valley Reserves winning 46-25.
