NEWCOMERSTOWN - In the 3rd Annual Newcomerstown Holiday Tournament, Stone Creek (3-6) did little right other than shoot for a good percentge from the floor in bowing to Newcomerstown (2-5).  Coach Ken Lawhun's Panthers hit on 42 percent of their shots, making 16.  But they got just 38 shots as the Trojans of Coach John Haugh controlled both boards all night.  The  Trojans hit on 23 of 62 action flings for a fine 38 percent.  Stone Creek trailed just 12-11 at the initial stop, but a big 2nd quarter put Newcomerstown in front 26-19 at intermission.  The Trojans led 44-29 after 3 halts.  Four Trojans hit for double figures, paced by Randy Osler and Keith Stoffer with 13 points each.  Dave Bidwell and Dave Williams had 12 and 11 respectively.  Gail Mizer, Ed Wallace and Cliff Endlich paced Stone Creek with 10 each.

High scoring Verle (Curly) Endlich was held scoreless from the floor, getting just 2 points on free throws.  He has scored 61 points in Stone Creek's 1st 8 games.  The only other Trojan win also was over the Panthers, 55-33, in their opening game of the season.  "I just don't know what the trouble is," Lawhun said.  "Everytime we play Newcomerstown, we have a bad night.  We couldn't do anything right.  They outrebounded us and we made several bad passes.  I don't think we are as bad as we have been looking."
