63 - Dick Gerber Tied County Mark (2-7-63)

DOVER - It was reported December 19 that Baltic's Dick Gerber had established a new Tuscarawas County scoring record with a 53-point outburst against Union the preceding night.  It was learned yesterday; however, that  Gerber's feat only tied the county mark set by Elmer Harris of Mineral City in 1928.  Harris got his 53 markers in a 96-4 win over Midvale, the most points scored by a county team at that time.  Mineral City, going through a so-so season in 1928, came back the following year to win the county league title.  W.E. Laws, present superintendent of county schools, was coach both seasons.
