DOVER - Although the 1962-1963 basketball season is just a few games "old," we thought we'd take a look at the record book and bring you up on how things are going.  The Strasburg Tigers are the only team in the Tuscarawas County League that is still unbeaten at this point through games of December 18 at 4-0.  Three of the county's teams are above the .500 mark, with 4 below.  Port Washington is even in 6 engagements.  All have tasted the fruits of victory.  Sixteen countians are averaging in double figures in the league.  Dick Gerber of Baltic leads the way percentagewise with a 24.66 mark, edging out Dean DeMattio of Midvale who has 23.71.  Two others are over the 20-point per game mark.  Gerber and DeMattio are also one-two in field goals, with Gerber in front by one, 62-61.  DeMattio has the most foul shots with 44.  Bruce Kohl of Gnaden has 41.

Action in the Tuscarawas County League got off to a booming start last Friday after being postponed a week.  Twenty-four cagers hit in the double figures.  DeMattio's 29 points were high.  Larry Laisure of Port Washington was second with 22.  Four others got 20.
