63 - Midvale Falls to Dennison 64-50 (12-15-62)




MIDVALE - Dennison's Railroaders (3-1) made the most of a big first half against the cold-shooting Midvale Blue Devils (5-2) here Saturday night to rack up a triumph and set the stage for their crucial engagement with undefeated Strasburg (3-0) tomorrow night.  Dennison, losing only a 50-46 decision to Tusky Valley, will host Strasburg.  Dennison parlayed a big first half barrage into a win, rolling to a 20-7 first quarter lead and posting a 38-15 advantage at halftime.  In the second half, Midvale outscored Dennison 35-26.  Midvale lost starter Tom Mackey in the early minutes with a sprained ankle during one  of several tussles marring the action.  Overall, 42 personals were accessed, 25 against the Railroaders.  Senior veteran John Neighbor led Coach Tom Connor's crew with 21 points.  Nick Cummings chimed in with 13.  Midvale center Dean DeMattio, a 6-2 Junior took game honors with 24 points, including 11 field goals.  Bob Byers chipped in 10 for Coach Peter Hilliard's crew.  In the Reserve game, the unbeatened Midvale Reserves (6-0) edged the Dennison Reserves 36-34.
