63 - Stone Creek Drops Baltic 65-60 (12-14-62)




STONE CREEK - The Stone Creek Panthers (1-0) (2-3) led nearly all the way in notching their second win after 3 opening defeats.  Baltic (0-1) (1-4), managed a 2-point lead with 3 minutes remaining, but Jim Billman, who was  sitting out with 4 personals, returned to lead the hosts to the win.  Dick Gerber and Dale Stein, who collected 20 points apiece for the Egles, fouled out in the hectic closing.  Billman led Stone  Creek with 20 pointgs before fouling out in the closing seconds.  Ed Wallace added 16 and Cliff Endlich 14.  Gary Limbacher was the only other Baltic player in double figures with 11.  Stone Creek hit 21 of46 from the field for 43.7 percent and sank 23 of 37 foul attempts for 62 percent.  Baltic managed 19 of 59 from the floor for 32 percent and hit 22 of 38 free throws for 55 percent.  Baltic was whistled for 25 infractions and Stone Creek 23.  The winners held 11-10, 28-27 and 46-43 quarter margins.  Stone  Crfeek's defense held Gerber without a field goal in the first half.  The high-scoring Eagle hit 11 of his 20 points in the final period.  The Stone Creek Reserves (4-1) turned in yet another win by downing the Baltic Reserves (0-5) 34-29.  In the Junior High game, Baltic turned the tables by just getting by Stone Creek 37-35.
