63 - Tusky Valley Burns Gnaden 91-70 (12-18-62)

ZOARVILLE - The nets were literally burned to shreds here last night as Tuscarawas Valley (1-1) (2-2) swamped Gnadenhutten (1-1) (3-5) in a Tuscaraswas County League makeup contest.  Coach Bob Heller's Trojans led all the way, but Coach Oren Thompson's Indians refused to fold.  Tusky Valley held 26-18, 47-39 and 70-51 margins at the stops.  Both teams zeroed in on the hoops from all angles, Tusky Valley hitting for 44 percent and Gnaden 42.  The Trojans made 28 of 63 and the Indians 24 of 57.  The game was filled with fouls as 51 personals were called, 27 against the losers.  Four cagers weren't around at the finish, the Trojans losing Gary Ferren and Bob Burris and the Indians Larry Rentsch and Bruce Kohl, all in the final  period.  TV made 31 of 43 from the charity stripe.  Gnaden hit on 24 of 38.  Dave Widder led the victory, striking for 26 points.  Ferren and Paul Shipbaugh both had 19 and Ed Crawford 11.  Rentsch topped the Indians, getting 17 markers.  Ed Allensworth and  Terry Huebner both had 14.  High-scoring Kohl was held to 9.  Earlier, the Gnadenhutten Reserves (3-4) dropped the Tuscarawas Valley Reserves (0-4) 49-40.  In the Junior High game, Gnaden was again the victor trouncing Tuscarawas Valley 38-28.
