GNADENHUTTEN - Tuscarawas Valley (1-8) ended an 8-game victory famine here last night, edging Gnadenhutten (4-8). The Trojans, who will visit Tuscarawas Friday, slipped behind 20-17 at the initial rest, but went in front to stay in the 2nd stanza. They led 36-30 by intermission and 50-47 after 3 periods. Gnadenhutten pulled to within one point, 61-60, late in the game, but the Trojans fought just that much harder to preserve the win. Chuck Fishley came through in the clutch, sinking both ends of a one-and-one situation with a second left to ice the verdict. Tuscarawas Valley, under Coach Ken Gold, made 24 percent of their field goals and 16 of 20 charities. Gnaden, guided by Oren Thompson, hit on 2 more field goals, 26, in 62 tries for 43 percent , but got just 11 chances at the free throw lines, meshing 9. Rebounds favored the battling Trojans 29-18. Bob Burris pulled in 10 and teammate Harold Swinford 9. John Parrish snared 6 for the Indians. They'll trek to Port Washington Friday. Gold used just 5 players and all came up with double figure performances. Burris led the way with 15 points, Fishley and Fred Clugston 13, Gary Adams 12 and Swinford 11. Gary Rich was high for Gnadenhutten, notching 19. Terry Huebner added 14 and Gene Bates 10. The Gnadenhutten Reserves (4-6) scalped the Tuscarawas Valley Reserves (2-6) 38-31.
