65 - Garaway Outclasses Winless Tusky Valley 63-51 (1-9-65)

SUGARCREEK - Garaway's talented Pirates (6-2) used a well-balanced offensive attack and smooth ball hawking on defense to turn back Tuscarawas Valley (0-8) here Saturday night.  Five Pirates hit double figures.  Dan Andreas and Ron  Raber contributed 14 pointsd each, Jim Young got 12, Randy Miller 11 and Terry Gerber 10.  Gary Adams and Fred Clugston  mustered 12 and Bob Burris 11 for the Trojans.  Garaway drilled in 25 of 58 floor flings for a fine 43 percent and  hit on 13 of 23 at the foul lines.  Tuscarawas Valley made 20 of 48 action shots and 11 of 16 from the free throw lines.  The Trojans put up a struggle, battling the Pirates on even terms during the 1st half.  The score was  knotted 9-9 at the initial rest and 36-30 by intermission.  From then on; however, the Trojans couldn't cope with the Pirate's defensive efforts and trailed the rest of the way.  Andreas who snared 8 rebounds, plulled off 5 thefts on defense.  The Garaway Reserves (4-2) dressed down the Tuscarawas Valley Reserves 39-28.
