65 - Meet The 1964-65 Port Washington Purple Riders
PORT WASHINGTON - "We'll improve as the season progresses," first-year Coach George Thomas says. "But, the going is going to be rough because of the small number of boys out for the team." Three lettermen are back:
Senior Leonard Cameron, 5-11 Guard
Senior Bob Casteel, 6-0 Forward
Junior Roger Lewis, 5-10 Forward
Also seeking starting jobs are:
Senior Dan Gay, 5-10 Guard
Senior Dick West, 6-1 Center
Junior Bill Dumermuth, 5-8 Guard
Rich Fillman, 6-0 Center
Sophomore Jerry Stevens, 5-8 Guard
Freshman Gary Miller
Freshman Mike Peepers
Gone because of graduation are:
Jim Bates (leading rebounder)
Ken Gay (top scorer)
Steve Bender
John Foust
Ken Gay tallied 276 points for the 5-13 club, Cameron 177, Bates 156, Bender 136 and Casteel 109.
