65 - Hot Strasburg Continues To Roll With 70-47 Win Over Tuslaw (12-28-64)

MASSILLON - Strasburg's "Terrific Tigers" (5-2) continued their amazing shooting ability here last night and racked up an easy victory over Tuslaw (1-6).  The Pete Shahan-coached Tigers, who blistered the nets at Dennison Saturday, "cooled off" a bit here, but still managed to sink 32 of 71 action attempts for a hot 45 percent.  Tuslaw fired through 21 of 55 for a respectable 38 percent.  At the foul lanes, the Tigers were 9 of 12 and the Mustangs 5 of 15.  Strasburg toyed with Tuslaw for one quarter and trailed 13-10 at the 1st rest.  But, the Tigers turned on the heat from then on, taking a 31-17 margin into the lockerroom and enjoying a 47-31 advantage after 3 periods.  Balance was the keynote of the Tigers, along with a tight pressing defense.  Sophomore John Studer led the attack with 25 points.  He got ample support from Ron Lab with 15, Rock VanFossen with 14 and Rick Hall and Tom Dreher with 8 apiece.  High for Tuslaw was Bob Fox who mustered 18.  Jim Hoffman and Jack Brenner both added 10.  Strasburg, and victory of 4 in succession, will rest until January 8 when it hosts Gnadenhutten in a Tuscarawas County Class A League tussle.  The Tigers currently are 2-0 in the 9 team circuit.  There was no reported of a Reserve game.
