65 - Port Shaves Gnaden In Overtime 87-84 (12-12-64)

GNADENHUTTEN - Port Washington (2-2) evened its 1964-65 basketball ledger the hard way here Saturday, edging Gnadenhutten (1-5) in overtime.  Indian Fred Glass knotted the count 78-78 at the final buzzer in regulation  time, but Purple Rider Bob Casteel sank a pair of charity tosses with 7 seconds left in the extra period to ice the verdict.  Gnadenhutten fired 28 field goals through the nets in 87 tries to 25 of 84 for Port Washington.  But, the Purple Riders sank 37 of 50 charities to 28 of 41 for the Indians.  Port Washington outrebounded Gnadenhutten 55 to 40, Casteel snaring 15.  Randy Crites pulled in 11 for the Indians.  Rich Fillman lead Port with 21 points, while Leonard Cameron hit 19.  Gary Rice swished 19 points for Gnadenhutten and Gene Bates netted 18.  The Purple Riders will host Tuscarawas Tuesday, greet Strasburg Friday and visit Madison on the 19th.  The Indians say hello to Tuscarawas Friday.  The Gnadenhutten Indians (2-4) sprang loose for a 44-38 win over the Port Washington Reserves (0-1).
