65 - Midvale Slams Port Washington 90-54 (12-4-64)
MIDVALE - Port Washington (0-1) (0-2) gave Midvale (1-0) (3-0) a little trouble in the 1st half, trailing 17-15 at the initial halt and 37-25 by intermission. But, a tight press on the part of the Blue Devils in the 3rd canto enable Midvale to hike its advantage to 65-35 going into the final frame. Dan Kohler led the charges of Coach Pete Hilliard, ripping the nets for 22 points and game honors. Teammates Terry Leggett had 15, Bob Carlisle 11 and Ted Tolloti 10. High for the George Thomas-coached Purple Riders was Leonard Cameron with 16. Rich Fillman got 12. Midvale cominated the boards, hauling down 45 rebounds to 29 for Port Washington. Kohler grabbed 9 and Carlisle 7. Cameron bagged 9 and Bob Casteel 6 for the Purple Riders. The Blue Devils had a hot 46 percent from the floor, while the Purple Riders shot only 24 percent. At the foul lines, Midvale was 16 for 22 and Port Washington 16 for 26. Midvale hosts Gnadenhutten tonight. Port Washington visits Baltic Friday. There was no mention of a Reserve game.
