65 - Meet The 1964-65 Midvale Blue Devils

MIDVALE - Just like Old Man River, Pete Hilliard and Midvale High basketballers (2-0) roll on...and on...and on.  Hilliard, "dean" of Tuscarawas County Class A coaches in point of service with one team, has piled up a fantastic record in a decade.  Under his expert guidance, Blue Devil quintets have won 172, against a mere 40 setbacks.  It would take a book to list all the school's hardwood accomplishments during this stretch.  Suffice it to say they are plenty.  And this season's team appears headed for additionalglory.  Sparked by 4 returning lettermen, the Blue Devils have looked impressive in whipping Tuscarawas and Strasburg.  Key man for the "balanced" Blue Devils, if they have one particular standout, is 6-3 Senior Dan Kohler.  He scored 331 points last season and  has 33 thus far this campaign.  He also is a big man under the boards.  Fine outside shooting is provided mainly by:

Senior Terry Leggett, 5-10
Senior Ted Tolloti , 5-9
Senior Tom Daniels, 5-10

All are returning lettermen.  Another Senior trying to nail down a starting job is:

Senior John Montan

Also on the varsity aggrfegation are:

Junior Bill Hibbs, 5-11
Junior Harvey Byers, 5-10
Junior Charles DeMattio, 6-0
Junior Dan Fox, 5-5
Sophomore Bob Carlisle, 6-0

Midvale opens league play Friday, hosting Port Washington (0-1).  Last season's Blue Devils  tied Strasburg for league laurels at 7-1.
