65 - Gnaden Wins 1st By Getting By Tusky Valley 89-83 (12-11-64)





Gnadenhutten High School (Indians).  Senior - Fred Glass (12-Points)

ZOARVILLE - Coming up with its best balanced scoring effort of the season, Gnadenhutten (1-1) (1-4) staved off a battling band of Tuscarawas Valley Trojans (0-2( (0-3) to capture a battle of hot-shooting ball clubs.  Four Indians scored in double figures to offset the Trojans' twin scoring ability  of Harold Swinford and Gary Adams.  Leading the way for the victors was Dan Jinks' 18 points.  Gene Bates and Terry Huebner had 16 apiece and Fred Glass 12.  Swinford and Adams, in topping the Trojans, had 23 and 20 points, respectively.  Gnaden used a man-to-man press, while Tuscarawas Valley pressed from a zone.  Jinks paced Gnadenhutten's first-half drive which put it on top by a narrow 41-40 margin at halftime, scoring 16 points.  Both teams posted same percentages on its field shots.  In achieving the 45 percent mark.  Gnadenhutten made good 28 of 62 tries, while Tuscarawas Valley dunked 33 of 74.  The Indians were 33 for 49 from the foul line and Trojans 17 for 27.  The Tuscarawas Valley Reserves (2-1) blew away the Gnadenhutten Reserves (1-4), 42-23.
