65 - Hiland Raps Baltic 51-39 (11-28-64)




BALTIC - Hiland's annually tough Hawk basketballers (1-0) opened 1964-65 play on a successful note here Saturday night, rapping Baltic (0-2).  Three Hawks hit double figures in a well-balanced attack with John Hochstetler pumping in 13 points, Ken Miller getting 12 and Don Yutsy adding 10.  Keith Miller was high for the Eagles with 11 markers.  Teammate Jeff Schlarb canned 10.  Hiland led 8-5, 20-14 and 34-20 at the quarter rests.  The Hawks, under Coach Bob Schrock, connected on 18 of 47 action shots for 39 percent and hit on 15 of 20 foul tries.  Rich Polezynski's Eagles were 9 of 39 for 23 percent and 21 of 29, respectively.  Hiland made 11 fouls in the final frame, while Baltic was sinking 13.  Five Hawks ended the night with 4 personal fouls.  Schrock's men will meet Warsaw at Keene Friday.  Baltic, visits Strasburg for a Tuscarawas County League test that  same  night.  The Highland Reserves (1-0) ruffed-up the Baltic Reserves (0-2) 52-28.
