65 - Port Washington Victorious Against Newcomerstown 54-51 (1-19-65)

PORT WASHINGTON - Some fine "late" work by Leonard Cameron sparked Port Washington (4-9) to a victory over Newcomerstown (2-8) here last night.  The game see-sawed back and forth all night until Bob Casteel put the Purple Riders on top 49-48 with 2:05 left.  Cameron then made it 51-48 and shortly after hiked the margin to 52-48.  Trojan John Hurst, who took point honors with 26, cut the deficit to 52-50 and then 52-51 with 38 seconds remaining.  Cameron stepped to the foul line and missed both tries, but redeemed himself with 3 seconds to go by sinking a pair to ice the victory.  Port Washington visits Tuscarawas Friday.  Newcomerstown treks to West Holmes the 29th.  Dan Gay captured scoring laurels for Paort Washington, meshing 19 markers.  Cameron ended with 11 and Rich Fillman  added 10.  Clyde Butler followed Hurst with 10.  The Purple Riders made just 26 percent of their action shots, but pulled down 52 rebounds.  Newcomerstown held a 6-point lead at one stage of the final frame.  The Newcomerstown Reserves beat the Port Washington Reserves (2-6) 46-41.
