65 - Strasburg Slams Port Washington 82-62 (12-18-64)
PORT WASHINGTON - Great shooting in the 3rd period and a tight defense carried Strasburg (2-0) (3-2) over Port Washington (1-2) (2-4). Down 18-16 at the 1st stop, Pete Shahan's battlers fought back to go in front 44-33 by intermission and pulled out to a commanding 62-47 advantage after 3 quarters. Rock VanFossen again paced the talented Tigers, scoring 23 points. Tom Dreher added 20, Ron Lab 16 and Joh Studer 14 in the well-balanced attack. Purple Rider Leonard Cameron took game laurels, potting 24 tallies, but was stopped in the 3rd canto when the Tigers began tightening their defense. Dan Gay added 18 and Bob Casteel got 13. The sharpeyed Tigers hit on 54 percent of their action attempts and 62 percent of their charity tosses. The Purple Riders were 33 percent and 6 of 14, respectively. Hall led all rebounders. In the Reserve tussle, Charles Jones got 17 and Jerry Feller 11 as the Tigers (4-1) walloped Port Washington (0-3) 62-31.
