65 - Stone Creek Clips Tusky Valley 47-45 (1-22-65)

STONE CREEK - John Flinner played the hero's role for the Charles Huggins-coached Panthers (4-2) (11-2), finding the nets for a 2-pointer with 6 seconds showing on the clock.  The Trojans (1-4) (2-9), winners of their last 2 outings after a disastrous start this season, jumped in front by 4 points in the final frame, but couldn't hang on.  Vic Turner finally pulled the Panthers even with 2 minutes to go and the Panthers went into their patented stall, working for the final shot.  And, Flinner made the strategy perfect.  Stone Creek held a 13-12 advantage after 8 minutes and was in front 28-24 by intermission before the surging Ken Gold-coached Trojans tied the count 37-37 going into the last canto.  The Panthers sank 21 of 53 floor flings for a respectable 36 percent, 2 marks better than the  Trojans who mustered 13 of only 37 tries.  From the foul lines Stone Creek was 5 of 15 and Tuscarawas Valley 19 of 36.  Rebounds favored the Trojans 27-22, Harold Swinford snaring 10.  Turner led the Panthers grabbing 8.  Turner also paced the Panthers in the all-important scoring category, notching 15 points.  Tim  Baab contributed 14.  Swinford and Bob Burris both netted 12 for theTrojans.  The Stone Creek Reserves (8-1) came up victorious getting by the Tuscarawas Valley Reserves (2-7) 33-27.
