65 - Baltic Gambles And Loses To Warsaw 52-50 (12-12-64)
BALTIC - A gamble to tie the count just missed for Baltic's Eagles (1-5) here Saturday night so they fell to Warsaw. Down 52-49 with 3 seconds left, Keith Miller was at the line with a one-and-one situation. He popped in his 1st shot, but deliberately missed the 2nd shot, giving his teammates a chance for a tip-in which would have sent the game into overtime. Gus Regula made a gallant effort, but the ball rolled around the rim and off, sending the Eagles of Coach Rich Polczynski to their 5th loss asgainst one victory. They'll try for No. 2 Friday at Stone Creek. Both teams enjoyed fabulous nights shootingwise, Baltic sinking 21 of 36 field goal tries for 58 percent and the Pirates rimming 64 percent, including an amazing 10-of 11 in the 3rd period. Jeff Schlarb of the Eagles took game scoring honors with 24 points. Miller ended with 11. Mullet and Fry lead Warsaw in scoring with 17 and 14, respectively. The Baltic Reserves (1-3) racked up their 1st win of the season by getting by the Warsaw Reservers 47-42.
