65 - Garaway Tops West Holmes 76-53 (1-23-65)




MILLERSBURG - Randy Miller and Ron Raber formed a potent 1-2 scoring punch here Saturday night to spur Garaway (8-4) to victory over West Holmes.  Miller popped in 24 points and Raber 18, the top effort of the season for both.  Jim Young added 10 to the cause and played an outstanding defensive game.  The smooth-working Pirates got better as the contest progressed,  holding quarter margins of 18-13, 40-28 and 57-37.  Garaway under Coach Glenn Bower petted 27 of 57 action tries for a gleaming 47 percent and sank 22 of 27 charities.  West Holmes went 21 of 67 for 31 percent and 11 of 21, respectively.  Rebounds favored the battling Pirates 43-32, with talented Dan Andreas grabbing 14, Raber 7 and Miller 6.  The Pirates jumped out to a 3-0 lead and after the Knights pulled even, went on top 5-3 and from then on had things under control.  Garaway will host Gnadenhutten Friday.  The West Holmes Reserves pulled out a victory, 45-43, over the Garaway Reserves (6-4).
