65 - Tusky Valley Flys By Baltic 72-60 (1-29-65)




ZOARVILLE - Racing out of the starting gate to a 20-9 first period lead, Tuscarawas Valley (2-4) (3-10) never was headed in hanging up its victory over Baltic (0-6) (2-10).  The Trojans went on to record quarter margins of 36-26 and 53-38.  Four members of the victors hit the 2-figure column, Harold Swinford's 26 points leading the way.  Rounding out the quartet were Gary Adams with 14, Bob Burris 12 and Chuck Fishley 10.  Baltic, which travels to Port Washington tonight for a non-league encounter, was led by Keith Miller's 19 points.  Gus Regula followed with 12.  In a game featuring a pair of hot-shooting ball clubs, Tuscarawas Valley was the hottest.  It connected 24 times in 45 floor attempts for 53 percent, one of its best marks of the season.  The Trojans meshed 24 of 34 foul tries for 71 percent.  Baltic, only outgoaled by one, hit 23 of 55 for 42 percent.  It made 14 of 20 charity tosses for 70 percent.  The big difference in the score came at the foul lines.  Tuscarawas Valley was assessed 14 personals, while Baltic,  in battling the taller Trojans, was whistled 24 times.  The Tuscarawas Valley Reserves (3-8) netted the Baltic Reserves (3-6) 49-35.
