65 - Baltic Puts Up A Fight Against Midvale 64-50 (1-8-65)




BALTIC - Midvale (4-0) (11-0), the area's only undefeated basketball combine, overcame a cold 2nd stanza to turn back the stubborn Eagles (0-4) (1-7).  Ahead 20-10 at the 1st rest, the Pete Hilliard-coached Blue Devils had to fight for their lives in the 2nd quarter as they mustered 8 points to 15 for Baltic.  Midvale regained its touch after the intermission; however, and led 44-31 going into the final frame.  Talented Dan Kohler again was the key man for the Blue Devils, pouring in 22 points for game honors and  hauling down 14 rebounds.  Terry Leggett contributed 13 points and Tom Daniels gave support under the boards with 7 snares.  Tim Richardson got 15 points and  Keith Miller 14 for the Rich Polczynski-coached Eagles.  Miller pulled in 12 rebounds.  Midvale canned 27 of 39 action attempts and 10 of 19 free throws.  Baltic hit on 19 of 49 from the floor and 12 of 22 at the foul lines.  Baltic visits Warsaw and Midvale greets Ridgewood tonight.  Reserve game not reported.
