65 - Strasbug Fouls Out Against East Canton 52-49 (1-23-65)

EAST CANTON - That old bugaboo, personal foul, lifted its ugly head to bite Strasburg's talented Tigers (8-4) here Saturday night, enabling the Hornets to sting the Tuscarawas County power.  The Pete Shahan-coached Tigers outgoaled their hosts by 2, but sank just 7 of 15 charities, while the Hornets rimmed 14 of 21.  From the floor, the Tigers hit on 21 of 45 for a fine 47 percent mark.  East Canton (9-3) went 19 for 43 and 44 percent.  The Hornets, employing control tactics, led 13-8 and 27-23 at the initial 2 rests, but the Tigers surged in the 3rd frame to go in front 37-35 going into the last canto.  The Tigers outrebounded the tall Hornets 34-28, with Rick Hall pulling in 11...all in the 2nd half as he sat out the first 2 periods.  Thirteen turnovers also hampered Strasburg's cause, as did several missed bunnies and tips that just wouldn't find the mark.  East Canton was led by Jim Crumrine's 23 points.  Ron Stephonic had 14.  Ron Lab paced the Tigers, meshing 19 tallies.  Sophomore sensation John Studer garnered 14.  Strasburg will host Hiland Friday.  The East Canton Reserves also stopped the great Strasburg Reserve team (8-3) 42-30.
