BALTIC - Love those Malvern Hornets. Baltic (2-8) does and for good reason. On December 5 the Eagles snapped a 3-game losing streak when it defeated the Hornets 49-37. Last night Baltic ended its latest losing skein at 5 games when, who else, but Malvern should be the opponent. The Eagles measured the invaders to count their 2nd triumph of the campaign. Tonight Baltic would like to make it 2 straight by defeating county rival Stone Creek in a non-league encounter on the Eagle hardwoods. The Panthers scored a 40-35 nod in the previous meeting. Leading last night's triumph was Keith Miller who fired in 29 points, his tops for the season. Rich Richardson followed with 12 and Gus Regula added 12. Malvern had 4 palyers in double figures. Charles Hutchinson scored 15 points, Jim Mantella 14, Bucky Monroe 12 and John Savona 10. In the 3rd quarter, after having battled Malvern to a 28-28 halftime standstill, Baltic went into a press, maneuvering to a 47-40 third quarter lead. Baltic hit 25 percent of its field attempts and Malvern 23 percent. From the free throw line the Eagles made 11 of 22 and Malvern 13 of 25. The Baltic Reserves (2-5) sneaked by the Malvern Reserves 36-35.
