65 - Stone Creek Posts Win Over Kidron 67-48 (11-21-64)
KIDRON - Whatever Charles Huggins' secret is, he should bottle it and sell it to other coaches. Huggins, who piloted Stone Creek (2-0) to its 1st winning ledger since 1958-59 last season (14-9) apparently hasn't lost his touch. His Panthers opened 1964-65 Friday with a 65-57 victory over Port Washington (0-1), made it 2 in a row here Saturday by trouncing Kidron Central Christian by 19 points. Officials could have called the game after the 1st frame which found the Panthers enjoying a 21-8 margin. At the half it was 39-16 and it read 58-31 going into the last period. Stone Creek displayed fine balance, 4 players reaching double figures. Vic Turner paced the attack with 13 points. John Bihari was right behind with 12 and Jim Wherley and Tim Baab each canned 10. Bihari led the rebounders. Ralph Labman was high point-man for Kidron with 24 tallies. Ken Oberly potted 12. Big man for Kidron a year ago, Charles Miller, was limited to 4 markers by Panther Wherley. Stone Creek canned 31 of 52 action shots for a very fine 59 percent and hit on 13 of 24 charities. Kidron sank 18 of 47 for 34 percent and 6 of 17 respectively. Oberly fouled out late in the game. Stone Creek will visit Gnadenhutten December 4 for a league test and open its home campaign the next night, hosting Warsaw. There was no mention of a Reserve game.
