65 - Stone Creek Edges Newcomerstown 70-66 In Overtime (1-9-65)

STONE CREEK - Sophomore Tim Baab hustled his way to 29 points here Saturday night and as a result Stone Creek (10-1) was able to beat Newcomerstown in overtime.  The Charles Huggins-coached Panthers have now won 6 games in succession.  Stone Creek led 17-14 at the initial rest and 32-31 by intermission, then rallied to knot the count 62-62 at the end of regulation play after trailing 48-43 going into the final frame.  The Panthers fired in 27 of 64 shots from the floor for 43 percent and made 16 of 22 charities.  The  Trojans, under Coach John Haugh, were 27 of 59 for 46 percent and 12 of 18, respectively.  Stone Creek outrebounded the taller Trojans, 46-24, with Vic Turner snaring 12 and John Bihari 9.  Craig Wilken, 6-6, pulled in 10 for Newcomerstown.  John Hurst of the Trojans tied Baab for game scoring laurels.  Randy Osler added 12 points and Bernie Craigo 11.  Baab fired in a goal with 18 seconds left in regulation time to tie the count and then popped in 2 action attempts in the pressure packed extra canto.  All told, he had 10 goals after intermission.  John Flinner also struck for a key hit in  the overtime.  The Stone Creek Reserves (7-0) beat the Newcomerstown Reserves by 20 points, 51-31.
