63 - Tusky Whips Stone Creek - Strasburg Eakes Past Baltic (5-6-63)





TUSCARAWAS - Jeff Maxwell hurled and batted Tuscarawas  to a 6-3 victory over Stone Creek here Monday in Tuscarawas County League baseball action.  Maxwell gave up just 2 hits, both singles, walked 5 and fanned 9.  He stroked 3 hits.  Ed Wallace was the loser, giving up 10 hits walking 3 and striking out 7.  Jerry Grove rapped out 2 singles for 2 runs batted in for Coach Dick Ronald's nine.  Phil  Caldwell drove in 2 markers with a single and Jerry Schupp blasted a run-producing triple.  Cliff Endlich and Steve Wherley had Stone Creek's hits.

BALTIC - Strasburg moved a half game ahead of Midvale and Gnadenhutten in the Tuscarawas County High Baseball League via a 5-4 victory over Baltic here last night.  Coach Pete Angelo had Ron Bayer start for the Tigers with Ron Lab coming on in the third.  The duo allowed 7 hits, walked 3 and fanned 12.  Larry Luke was the losing hurler, giving up 6 hits, walking 8 and fanning 7.  Strasburg had to come from behind for the win, getting 2 runs in the 4th inning and 3 in the sixth.  Baltic had gotten 1 in the first, 2 in the 2nd and 1 in the fourth.  John Peters stroked 2 doubles for the Tigers.  Terry Hess had 3 singles.
