62 - Strasburg Win Streak Snapped In Overtime 47-45 (12-19-61)

STRASBURG - All good things must come to an end and so it was Tuesday night as the Strasburg Tigers' 4-game victory skein was ended by Dennison's invading Railroaders in a thrilling overtime game.  A pair of foul shots, one each by Nick Cummings and Bob Whitmire, put the finishing touches on  the hectic game which saw the lead bounce back and forth faster than a shuttlecock in a badminton match.  Strasburg's Vic Gessner sent the game into overtime with a long  jump shot for a 40-40 tie with just 10 seconds left.  In the overtime the teams matched point for point until Cummings put Dennison ahead with a bonus toss and Whitmire followed with another with 10 seconds remaining.  The game was decided at the foul line where Dennison made 17 to Strasburg's 7.  The Strasburg (4-3) quintet outscored the Railroaders from the field, 19 field goals to 15.  Strasburg took 57 shots for 33 percent, while Dennison attempted 47 for 32 percent.  Dennison (3-1) scored first and raced off to a 9-7 lead with Cummings hitting as the buzzer sounded.  The lead changed hands 3 times.  Dennison made only 2 of 14 action shots and Strasburg just one of 12 as the half ended with Dennison leading 13-11.  Strasburg tied it 13-13 as the third period got underway, but Dennison pulled out in front 21-15.  The  Tigers then scored 7 straight points to lead 22-21, before Dennison took a 25-24 lead after 3 periods.  Dennison led most of the final quarter until Gessner sent the game into overtime on  his last second jumper.  During the game the score was tied 8 times and the lead changed hands 8 times.  Dennison has now won 3 straight after losing its opener.  John Neighbor paced the Railroaders with 14 points, 8 on fouls.  Whitmire  had 11.  John Peters was high for Strasburg with 12 points.  The Dennison Reserves whipped the Strasburg Reserves (1-6) 40-26.
