62 - Garaway Hot (6th Straight) After 61-48 Win Over West Lafayette (1-14-62)
SUGARCREEK - A sudden scoring splurge in the early moments of thethird qurter carried Garaway's Pirates (10-3) to a victory over invading West Lafayette Saturday night. After leading 13-10 and 23-20 at the first 2 quarter stops, the Pirates dropped behind the attacking Generals 27-25 as the third stanza opened, but the Pirates suddenly got hot and went on a scoring rampage. When they finished they held a 45-33 lead at the end of the quarter. Roy Yoder popped in 12 field goals and added a bonus toss for 25 points to pace Garaway and win game scoring honors. Geof Stevanus had 13 for the Pirates. Ron Boyce with 14 and Hachenbracht with 12 topped West Lafayette. Garaway hit on 24 of its 57 shots for 42 percent West Lafayette made 41 percent of its action attempts, but let fly with only 36 shots in the game. The West Lafayette Reserves dropped the Garaway Reserves (7-4) 38-32.
