62 - Port Washington Rips Tusky Valley 57-52 (2-2-62)

BOLIVAR - Port Washington (2-5) (5-11) withstood a strong second half rally to record its league victory over the host Tusky Valley Trojans (2-5) (2-13). The Purple Riders of Coach Don Durham trailed 19-9 at the end of the first quarter, but got hot in the second stanza to take a 30-22 halftime lead. Coach Bob Heller's Trojans narrowed the gap to 41-38 at the 3rd quarter mark, but couldn't get any closer. The Port Washington victory came at the foul line where the Riders made 25 of 32 bonus tosses. TV shot only 21 and made 14. Tusky Valley out-goaled the winners by 3 baskets. The Trojans made 19 of 63 shots for 31 percent, while Port Washingto made 16 of 47 for 32 percent. Dean Nemetz of Tusky Valley won game honors with 18 points. Gary Ferren added 9 to the Trojan total. Ken Gay and Tony Nigro with 16 points each paced Port Washington. Alvin Fillman had 11 for the Riders The Tusky Valley Reserves (11-3) blasted the Port Washington Reserves (4-9) 46-31.
