62 - Midvale 65-60 Over Strasburg In The Last Seconds (12-5-61)

MIDVALE - Blue chip firing in the final seconds of play preserved Midvale's unbeaten streak last night as the invading Strasburg Bengals (0-2) provided a surprising acid test for the Blue Devils (4-0).
The Bengels led from almost the starting jump in the nip and tuck contest before Jim Tidrick came off the bench to break a 60-60 tie with a bucket to ice the verdict and put Strasburg on the prowl with 45 seconds left.  Steady Neal Beans then added 2 charity tosses and Bob Byers dropped another in those fading seconds for the triumph.  It was the fourth straight victory for the charges of Coach Pete Hilliard, while the Tigers of Coach Warren Binder are now 0-2, having lost 2 thrillers, the first  one being a 42-39 loss to Fairless.  Rick Belknap led the Devils with 16 points as 4 men were in double figures.  Beans had 14 for the night, Dean DeMattio added 12 and Tidrick had 10.  Don Wallick led the Bengals with 14 points, while Dan Sliffe added 12.  The Midvale Reserves (4-0) romped over the Strasburg Reserves (0-2) 53-16.
