62 - Newcomerstown Slips Past Host Stone Creek 58-53 (2-2-62)
STONE CREEK - The Newcomerstown Trojans (5-9) pulled away in the waning minutes of the game Friday night to hand host StoneCreek (2-15) its 10th straight loss. Stone Creek took an early 16-13 lead, but Newcomerstown tied the game at 28-28 at the intermission break. Newcomerstown edged ahead by 2 points, 47-45, at the third quarter stop and then played it close to the chest. The hard luck Panthers of Stone Creek did everything but win according to Coach Ken Lawhun. The Panthers comjmitted only 6 measurable mistakes and hit 21 of 47 field goal attempts for 44 percent. Newcomerstown shot 45 percent from the field, making 24 of 53 attempts. Butch and D. Williams chipped in 14 points apiece to back up Ernie Art's 12-point performance for the winning Trojans. Bob Hamilton and Cliff Endlich netted 15 points each and Jim Billman added 11 for Stone Creek. The Newcomerstown Reserves started the sweep by blowling away the Stone Creek Reserves (0-11) 51-32.
