62 - Garaway Handles Stone Creek 67-43 (1-5-62)
STONE CREEK - The big Pirates of Garaway (2-1) (7-3) used their height to excellant advantage Friday night, boxing off the small Panthers of Stone Creek (1-3) (2-8) and allowingthem only 39 field goal attempts, as they won handily. While Stone Creek had to be content with just one shot at the basket, Garaway was getting 2 and sometimes 3 beause of their height superiority. For the night, the Pirates shot 78 times, making 27 for 34 percent. Stone Creek made 11 of its 39 attempts for 28 percent. Coach Ken Lawhun's Panthers completely shackled Garaway's 2 big scorers, Dan Bleininger and Roy Yoder, but allowed 3 lesser-known point-makers to steal the show. Bleininger and Yoder, who have been averaging 30 points a game combined in league play, were held to 5 and 2 points respectively. Geof Stevanus pitched in 19 points to take up the big part of the slack, while Wayne Burkey counted 17 and Don Deetz had 12. Jim Billman topped Stone Creek with 16.
