62 - Garaway Romps Past Warsaw 47-31 (1-7-62)
SUGARCREEK - Garaway's Pirates (8-3) scuttled visiting Warsaw in the early minutes of the game Saturday night and ended up making the invaders walk off the short end of the plank. Garaway, which committed only 4 turnovers all night, raced off to a 16-7 first quarter lead, increased it to 26-12 at halftime and 40-20 after 3 periods. It was the 4th straight win for Coach Glen Bower's Pirates. Taking only 42 shots, the Pirates made 19 of them for 45 percent. Warsaw managed just 36 shots and hit on only 10 for 36 percent. High scoring Pirates Roy Yoder and Dan Bleininger, rebounding from a poor night Friday, paced the Pirates with 16 and 12 points respectively. Geof Stevanus pitched in 10 counters. Mike Kilpatrick topped the invaders with 15 points. The Garaway Pirates (6-3) whipped the Warsaw Reserves 41-29.
