62 - Garaway Surprises Gnaden 74-64 (1-19-62)
GNADENHUTTEN - Garaway's Pirates (4-1) (11-4) let out the stops for a change last night, discarding their oft-times stall, to smother Gnadenhutten (4-2) (11-4) in a mild surprise. Garaway slipped out to a 19-16 first quarter lead and then had an easier time of it the rest of the way to post 52-42 and 61-45 leads. Team statisticians for Gnaden showed the Indians committing 24 turnovers in one of their most erratic games of the campaign. Using the fast break, Garaway dropped 31 field goals to Gnaden's 19 in the contest played before a packed house. Roy Yoder led Garaway with 31 points, 12 coming on the fast break in the second quarter. Dan Bleininger chimed in with 20 markers for Coach Glenn Bower and was credited with an outstanding game on the boards. The league's leading scorer Bob Ervin continued his hot pace for the Indians and Coach Ron Sokola with 27 points, while Brad Kaiser and Bruce Kohl added 10 points each. In the Reserve game, Gnaden (9-4) beat Garaway (8-5) 37-28.
