62 - Strasburg Rally Nips Garaway 47-43 For 4th Straight Win (12-17-61)

STRASBURG - Down by 3 points with less than 2 minutes to go, the Strasburg Tigers (4-2) clawed their way to their 4th straight victory Saturday night, nipping defending County Champion Garaway (4-3).  Before a turn-away capacity crowd, the Tigers rallied in the final half, after trailing 15-8 at the end of the first quarter and 25-20 at the half.  After 3 quarters, Strasburg trailed by a single point, 34-33, but dragged behind 43-40 as the clock slipped by the 2 minute mark.  Then Jim Clymer raced the length of the court to make it 43-42.  On the front end of the pressing defense, Vic Gessner stole the ball seconds later and went in for a solo basket to put Strasburg ino the lead 44-43.  Sophomore John Peters dropped in a foul shot to make it 45-43, and Adrian Edie got the clincher with 10 seconds left when he picked up a loose ball and  dribbled in for a basket and a 47-43 Strasburg lead.  The turn-about Tigers, who have now captured 4 straight, just ended their 20-game losing streak one short week ago.  It was Garaway's second heart-breaking defeat in 2 nights.  Friday the Pirates lost to Three Rivers on a last second shot.  Garaway is now riding a 3-game losing streak.  The Garaway Reserves (3-2) just got by the Strasburg Reserves (1-5) 29-26.
