62 - Strasburg Cops 63-56 Upset Victory Over Sandy Valley (1-15-62)




STRASBURG - Strasburg (6-6) parlayed a strong final quarter rally into a mighty upset Saturday night as the host Tigers defeated the Sandy Valley Cardinals (5-4).  Although leading throughout the early stages of the game, including quarter leads of 13-8 and 26-23, the Tigers dropped behind 46-42 after 3 periods of play.  In the important final quarter; however, Strasburg outscored the Cardinals 17-10 to walk off with  its 6th victory.  Sandy Valley had won their first 3 victories to start the season.  Stasburg pulled off the upset at the foul line where the Tigers meshed 17 of 26 bonus tosses.  Sandy Valley made only 4 at the charity stripe,  shooting only 9.  Sandy Valley held a 26-23 field goal edge.  From the floor, Strasburg made 37 percent of its 62 action shots.  Sandy Valley made 40 percent of its 67 tries.  Vic Gessner paced the Strasburg attack with 16 points, Jim Clymer had 13, Don Wallick 11 and Adrian Edie 10.  John Jones potted 16 for Sandy Valley, while Darrell Zantino backed him up with 11.  The Sandy Valley Reserves started the night off by zipping by the Strasburg Reserves (2-10) 62-38.
