62 - Port Snaps 8 Game Losing Streak Against Stone Creek 70-55 (1-26-62)

PORT WASHINGTON - Port Washington (5-1) (4-10) used one of its best attacks and team efforts of the year in snapping its 8 game losing streak at the expense of Stone Creek's Panthers (1-6) (2-13). Coach Don Durham had 4 men in double figures along with some exceptional board control by 2 youngsters. The Panthers of Coach Ken Lawhun stayed with the hosts for a half before bowing to their 11 straight defeat. The Purple Riders led only 41-32 at halftime, but outscored the Panthers 15-11 for a more comfortable 56-43 lead at the end of 3. Tony Nigro led the Riders with 18 points, while Tom Loader canned 16, Paul Schwarb 12 and Al Fillman 11. Roger Beighley and Schwab were credited with fine board efforts. Ed Wallace led Stone Creek with 13 and Jim Billman had 11. The Port Washington Reserves (4-8) also won their game 46-30 over the Stone Creek Reserves (0-9).
