62 - St. Joe Wallops Baltic 75-54 (12-30-61)

NEWCOMERSTOWN - Dover St. Joseph's (7-0) remained the only unbeated team in the area by dominating the backboards and shooting a sizzling 46 percent from the field.  With Jack Evans and Tom Young leading the way, the Ramblers of Coach Art Teynor raced out to a 17-6 lead and were never headed.  Baltic (6-5) never led in the game, but managed to keep the game from turning into a rout by potting  15 of 36 action shots in the second half for 42 percent.  The Ramblers led at the other quarter stops 37-22 and 54-33.  Evans tallied 11 points in the first half and then came back strong with 14 points after intermission to take game scoring honors with 25 points.  It gave him 47 tournament points and won him a share of point honors with Young.  It was the fourth straight game in which Evans had meshed at least 20 points.  Young, the area's leading Class "A" scorer, shot only 12 times from the field, but connected on 5 and added 10 free throws for 20 points.  He is averaging 23.5 for the season.  With Evans, Bill Held and Jerry Rieger consistently clearing the boards of rebounds, the ramblers limited Baltic to usually one shot, while getting several at their own basket.  Trying to overcome St. Joseph's height advantge, the Eagles of Baltic ran into foul trouble and eventually lost 2 starters via the personal foul route.  St  Joseph's swished 25 of 51 action shots for 48 percent,  while Baltic made 23 of 59 for 36 percent.  The Ramblers piled up their big margin of victory at the foul line where they made 25 of 35.  Baltic shot 17 bonus tries, but made only 8.  Dick Gerber topped
