62 - Midvale Romps By Stone Creek 83-37 (12-8-61)
MIDVALE - The host Midvale Blue Devils (1-0) (5-0) romped over Stone Creek despite the absence of All-County center Neal Beans, who suffered a knee injury Tuesday against Strasburg. Midvale was in front at the close of every period and was never threatened by the Stone Creek Panthers (0-1) (1-3). Top scorers for the Blue Devils were Rick Belknap with 14 points followed by Walt Weaver and Bob Byers who potted 13 each. Cliff Endlich was high man for Stone Creek with 16 points. A total of 55 personal fouls were called in the rough game, 33 against the Panthers. The Midvale Reserves (5-0) won the prelim in impressive fashion 94-26 as Coach Hilliard platooned his cagers, playing a different 5 each quarter. It stands as one of the highest scores by a reserve team in recent memory. Five cagers were in double figures for the younger Devils. The Stone Creek Reserves now stand at 0-2)
