PORT WASHINGTON - After the first quarter ended with Midvale (7-1) (14-4) leading only 15-11, the Blue Devils managed to hit with consistency in the second period and outscored Port Washington (2-6) (5-13) 21 to 7 for a 36-18 halftime advantage.  That margin was too much for the Riders, who trailed 51-33 as the last stanza opened.  Both teams were hit hard during the week by the flu bug, accounting for rather listless play during much of the fray.  Most of Port's players were sidelined.  Paul Schwab returning in school only yesterday.  Several Midvale players were out during the week.  Rick Belknap of Midvale was in sharp form and paced the attack with 20 points, netting 13 from the field.  Bob Byers trailed him with 12, while Neal Beans, who was in and out because he still is recovering from the flu, had 11.  Splarking Port was Larry Laisure, who had 4 fine drive-in shots and 8 charity tosses for 16.  Alvin Fillman, plaing  his final home game as a Senior,  had 11.  It was the final game  of the regular season for Midvale.  Midvale (15-2) won the Reserve game 49-33 over the host Port Washington (4-11).

Note:  The Tuscarawas Valley Trojans were beaten by the Fresno Indians 64-51 on February 6th.  The source records (writeup and box score) were not legible enough to report.  TV lost their 15th game of the season in that game.
